Let’s Play Super Smash Bros.! What a refreshing take on the fighting game genre from Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. Super Smash Bros. was so much damn fun, as Peter and I demonstrated in this video.
Let’s Play Super Smash Bros.
We used to play this game a lot in college with another friend or so. What made this game especially fun was that Nintendo made it, meaning that they could draw on their sizable pool of famous and recognizable video game characters from mainstays like Mario to lesser known characters like Nester. Most of the major franchises which Nintendo had generally long since established at this point where there from Pokémon to Zelda to DK to Metroid to Star Fox and the list goes on.
Everyone had a nice compliment of moves to make the game interesting, and there were a dozen plus levels to give you a nice variety of backdrops for each match. Backdrop doesn’t do it justice, however, as each level provided its own obstacles and things to account for or exploit to survive or get the upper hand.
I was a Pikachu guy myself having been a Pokémon fan in the late 90’s; I was stoked to finally be able to honor that “like” I had for that franchise, plus he has a lot of nice cheap and quick moves to knock your opponent all around. Peter as always is a DK guy through and through and we had a good time with this game just as we did back in the day.
This really is one of the best all time couch multiplayer games ever made on a system which had a lot of great titles which match that description perfectly which still holds up more or less perfectly today.
