Video Games 101 Instructor

Professor Brigands

Professor Brigands is your instructor for every episode of VG 101.

The Professor grew up during the golden age of console video games in the 90’s.

The Professor plays through the games in the videos, pointing out the basic to advanced and sometimes secret tips and tricks you need to beat the classics. He delivers many of the main segments of VG 101, including:

Rage Meter – The Rage Meter is used early on in every class to handicap the game in question. In other words, the Professor uses the Rage Meter to give you a good idea of how challenging the game is on a scale of 1 to 10 so that you know what you’re in for. This difficulty is then translated into a more practical level of frustration the game can generate in the player.

Controls – Pretty straightforward, but the Controls are shown at the beginning of every class to show you the basic controls for the game, including any less obvious combinations you might need to know.

BrigsNotes – Delivered near the beginning of every class, the BrigsNotes are the general (typically) 3 keys to beating the game covered in that week’s class. If you don’t know anything else about the game, these tips alone will carry you far.

Video Games 101 Teaching Assistants

The Professor couldn’t do it alone, and luckily he recruited three of the greatest experts in their fields to serve as Video Games 101’s teaching assistants.

Gary

Gary AKA Scary Gary is the resident boss expert around the VG 101 offices.

Gary appears as part of his regularly occurring segment, “Scary Gary’s Boss Beaters”.

In it, he gives you the breakdown strategy on every boss so that you can move on to the next screen or beat the game.

No boss is too tough and no weak point goes unidentified when Gary is breaking down the baddies behind the baddies.

In many games, Gary will give out a “Toughest Boss” award for just that. Be on your toes around this boss as they’re typically a handful!

Fluff

Fluff is the fact finder and cat of the VG 101 team.

Appearing in his regularly occurring “Fluff’s Facts” segment, Fluff offers fun facts about the games covered in each class outside of the tactics for actually beating it.

In addition to knowing how to beat the games, Fluff makes sure that you know a few interesting, funny, or sometimes outright bizarre facts about the game in question.

Blaze

Last but certainly not least, Blaze is the bestiary and item guide for the games we cover.

If there’s an obscure item in the game that you’ve always scratched your head and wondered aloud “what the HECK is the point of that?”, Blaze has your answer.

Just as importantly, Blaze identifies the more important items in each game.

This includes giving out an “Item/Move/etc. of the Game” award so that you know the item, move, etc. you ought to be prioritizing.

In more rare occasions, Blaze gives the lowdown on some of the more notable enemies who don’t quite qualify as bosses but deserve a strategy just the same on taking them down.

Please consider subscribing to Video Games 101 if you haven’t already to help the TAs and I take over the… err make more excellent walkthroughs for your infotainment.
