Let’s Play Gauntlet The Remake! How do you make Gauntlet playable/semi enjoyable/to not make you want to destroy everything ever? You remake it of course for starters, with better graphics, better gameplay, and most importantly get rid of the life hemorrhaging factor. You also invite a few of your best friends to play it with you.
Let’s Play Gauntlet The Remake
A big shout out to David Logan for gifting this game to me in the first place as I don’t know if I would have gotten to it at least near as quickly as I did without his patronage.
The remastered remake of Gauntlet makes for a pretty fun play through with your friends. It’s not as fun as more recent Diablo entries such as Diablo 3 which is much larger in scale, breadth, and depth. But this is a nice little slice of a few hours to kill with some friends.
Matt, Todd, and eventually Jen and I had a good time playing this one together. I actually think that this was the first time I played a game with my buddy Todd on the channel, so that was a very nice bonus given his and my video game memories.
What else to say about this game? It’s nice having various difficulty levels to play it on to make it reasonable as damage taking is still a bit unforgiving. I mean, it’s still a Gauntlet game, meaning it’s just a given basically that you’ll take a good bit of damage at some point.
The addition of the skull token meter was nice, so your surviving friends could bring you back if they kicked enough ass, creating a lot more incentive and drama to redouble your effort when one of your comrades has fallen.
Again though it’s not as developed as Diablo, so if you’re looking for a much more enveloping and simply put a longer gaming experience, look for a game like that as many gamers will tell you that that’s the quintessential couch co-op experience (literally almost verbatim what a Gamestop employee told me when I asked him for suggestions recently).
Still, if you want to relive the “fun” of the original as it should have been, this is the game for you.
