Let’s Play XCOM 2!
Pretty sure this game easily takes the crown for the longest let’s play on this channel, at least at the time of writing this. It’s the sequel to the popular strategy turn based battle game in XCOM: Enemy Unknown which I didn’t play on the channel
I did however play it through with my good buddy Matt, and we did the same thing with this XCOM 2 playthrough to make it more entertaining for us and the rest of the world (but mostly us).
Let’s Play XCOM 2:
This is also one of the newer games I’ve ever featured on the channel in terms of when it was released to when we played it, for whatever distinction that’s worth. Also, to make it extra fun, every mission was streamed live.
In fact, I even solicited regular viewers on the channel to submit character info so that we could theoretically make their characters part of our XCOM squad, making it that much more interactive. I had hoped that would give folks extra incentive to tune in every time we streamed so they could follow along with their characters.
Heh, unfortunately that didn’t pan out and these live streams were amongst the least viewed I’ve ever cast despite the promotion I tried to do for them, but I always had a great time just the same.
Matt and I kept our classic dynamic from the first game, which meant that Matt was the planner back and base making the decisions underground which would affect my team in the field. He’d pick personal, develop technology to help us in combat, and even choose the missions my team would face.
Then, once it was time to bust some deserving alien teeth, I’d take over. At the same time, we were both always active and involved as he’d help me with decisions in the field and I’d make suggestions when he was controlling the base.
I’ll guess that it took us roughly 40 hours or so to beat this game, so I fully understand that the complete let’s play which I subsequently broke into a playlist of individual missions isn’t for everyone. Just the diehard fans of both LPWB and XCOM2… so yeah maybe better said it isn’t for anyone.
Still, Matt and I had a good time with this one even if it didn’t make for great ratings or streaming.
