Let’s Play Super Mario Bros

Let’s Play Super Mario Bros! The game that started a revolution and single-handedly revived the home video game console business. People forget this but the market was avoiding video games like the plague after they were deemed a failure in the early 80’s after the Atari craze came and went. It was thought that people wouldn’t want anything to do with specifically video game based consoles when a computer could do the same thing and much more.

lets play super mario brosNintendo still believed that there was a future in console based gaming when they released the Nintendo Entertainment System in the mid-80’s. It was a quick hit in Japan but American electronics stores were still skeptical. People at Nintendo staked their careers on a gamble and quietly and slowly rolled out the NES in New York in 1985 where it quickly became a big hit. A lot of that success was owed to the game packaged with the NES, Super Mario Bros.

Enough history, though; let’s reminisce! My brother and I got our NES sometime in 1988 I want to say. My brother had something like $50 and I had $10 to contribute being basically a toddler, and in exchange for promising to do our chores our parents paid for the rest of the system. We were quickly hooked, playing the system for hours straight each day. Eventually the folks placed a moratorium on video games during the week so we’d focus on school we were so hooked.

My specific Let’s Play Super Mario Bros. video here follows the trail I best know how to beat the game with. Some people or maybe purists better said probably don’t like that I warped, but I literally never play this game so I was just happy that I remembered their locations. World 8 is a bit intense, and I pulled off a number of slick moves to get through it if I do say so myself. Dominating a game is great, but sometimes it’s the dramatic finishes which make for the best let’s plays.
