Let’s Play RC Pro Am! An old school Rare submission, RC Pro Am is a solid racing/battle game for the NES in the early days. Before there was Mario Kart, there was RC Pro Am, and no that’s not a comparison I’ve ever made or even thought of before, to give that sentence a disclaimer.
Let’s Play RC Pro Am:
But come on; you drive around, pick up weapons to send your competition spiraling out of control and crashing if only for a second or two, and try to win the race. Speaking of if only for a second or two, there really should have been more of a punishment for getting hit by a missile on the course.
I’m not even talking in practical real world terms, as that would destroy your car and/or kill you. But if you manage to hit someone with a missile, they should lose a good 10 seconds and the game shouldn’t do that garbage compensating thing which racing games do to manufacture difficulty where the car drives inexplicably faster than your car until it catches up to you again.
This game would be a lot more fun if it weren’t for that. A little more winnable, as well. That said, I used to be a lot better at this game. I was so good that I know that there are at least half a dozen variations of the main car design which you get as you improve and mod your car with each few races, provided you picked up the letters and items that you need.
Two player mode was a nice addition, and this was a very fun couch co-op game, aside from the whole “the player dragging behind gets rocket boosts to keep in the race because we can’t do split screen”. Man I’m losing my love for this game as I talk about it. I better end it here before I refuse to ever play it again.
