Let’s Play Paperboy

Let’s Play Paperboy! I think Paperboy may be the first let’s play I did on this channel where I exceeded my own expectations and did something I’ve ever been able to do in the past. In this case, it’s beat Paperboy by getting through the entire week.

lets play paperboyThe objective in Paperboy is obviously to deliver papers to as many subscribers on your route as possible, either by connecting with their front stoop or if possible threading the needle and getting the paper right in the box which nets you more points (just like in real life). Fortunately for us, the standard for paperboys in whatever town this is is pretty low, as you only need to maintain one subscriber throughout the week to keep your job. If you’re really out to survive, you might focus on delivering to that first house before the obstacles crop up so that you can focus on avoiding said obstacles for the remainder of the course.

Speaking of obstacles, you have kids doing pop and lock moves, dog walkers, grannies on motorcycles, localized tornadoes, independent lawnmowers, stupid little kids on their big wheels, runaway dogs, coked up home owners, and the Grim Reaper himself to name most of them.

If you make it through your route, you can unwind with the nifty obstacle fun course which all paperboys have access to and use in this country to practice their craft. And a few of your low resolution friends even turn up to cheer you on every time.

The obstacles get more difficult throughout the course of the week and if you make it through the week like I did, your paperrboy understandably retires. To his credit, I’m not sure his editor clued him in to the fact that Death himself would be obstructing his route. In retrospect, it’s not really worth the $5.25 an hour.
