Let’s Play Outlast! Before Let’s Scream With Brigands, I just marked Halloween with a single game a year and this year it was Outlast. This was my first time playing Outlast which undoubtedly made it more fun for not only me but everyone watching.
Let’s Play Outlast:
I’ve gone on record on the channel many times over the years that I’m not a fan of the horror genre when it comes to movies. Nothing against it, I just don’t go out of my way to see them and i absolutely hate jump scares. They’re kind of the pits of the horror film genre; it’s a cheap means to an end.
And although I do approach these games with a certain amount of dread, I do genuinely enjoy scary games because it adds another level of entertainment again for both myself and anyone watching. Not only are you trying to solve puzzles, find your way around, and basically beat the entire game, you’re also on the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next.
Outlast was a very fun time, though admittedly I had a lot more fun the following year with Outlast: Whistleblower. Not because I think Whistleblower is the better game (it’s not) but because I chose to do those live in front of an audience, so they got to live every adrenaline fueled moment with me.
This game isn’t just scary, it’s downright disturbing for much of it. I won’t give any spoilers away here if you haven’t watched or played it yet, but it gets pretty twisted. I look forward to dreading games like this for years to come Halloween time.
