Let’s Play Legendary Wings! I think I played this game around Christmas because even in the first year or so of the channel I was hard pressed to find relevant holiday games. You really have to stretch your mind to get that one, but I guess I’ve always thought of it as a less than secular game just because my grandmother bought it for my brother and I for Christmas with the express understanding that it was a Christian game, an impression which was entirely formed from glancing at the cover. Ha I kind of want to have been a fly on the wall at that Toys R Us or wherever she got it to overhear the conversation she had with the clerk regarding the game. “So these are angels, right?”.
Let’s Play Legendary Wings:
It may not have been the Christian game that grandma would have wanted for us (thankfully she didn’t know of Bible Adventures), but fortunately for us it turned out to be an awesome game from Capcom, what luck! Fun gameplay (think Space Invaders but more involved), decent music (Batmannnnnnnn!), brilliant visuals in both the top down as well as the palace side view modes, really an all around fun game.
Getting your weapon up to firebird level four which was maxed out was a nice incentive to track down the hidden treasure rooms, and avoiding the sucking bubbles of the giant mouth on each stage was great. The mothership which got more and more powerful with each stage was a unique enemy, and overall the game offered just enough challenge to make it interesting each time you played it, keeping you coming back and playing it again and again. Good work, grandma, and thanks!
