Let’s Play Wayne’s World

Let’s Play Wayne’s World! Let’s Play Wayne’s WorldI finished the first Movie March with Wayne’s World, a confounding game my brother and I played as kids.

Let’s Play Wayne’s World:

Talk about turning in the bare minimum; the 3 or 4 note soundtrack was a perfect indication of the level of effort the developers put into this game.

Still, I have some sort of unexplainable fascination with the game and beat it whenever my bro is around. It probably goes back to that idea I presented in an older post about having an appreciation for the games which most people find mind numbingly difficult yet I can beat without TOO much difficulty. I’m learning so much about myself during these write ups.

But seriously, not to beat a dead horse but it’s laughable how little effort the developers put into the game. I can just see them laughing as they cashed their checks, throwing up a handful of “Way” and “No Way” and (heh) “No Stairway” signs as a background for a level.

I haven’t really talked much about the game itself. It’s mostly just as many references and lines they can grab from the movie to hope to elicit a chuckle as possible. Wayne knows kung fu somehow, which sort of fits in with the plot of the second movie, but they wouldn’t have known that at the time, and Garth is armed with a gun which shoots lightning bolts. Actually Garth did have that gun for a second in the sequel, but again, I’m not going to give them credit for that. It’s a crappy game but the nostalgia factor and deriving immense pleasure in how shitty it is makes it tolerable.
