Let’s Play Mega Man 2! I was on a Capcom stretch here at the beginning of the channel. Considering I started with a number of my favorites, that’s a testament to Capcom’s talents at the time.
If I’ve said it once I’ll say it a thousand times, Capcom games always have fantastic music. Mega Man games especially seemed to nail it every time as every theme perfectly somehow reflected the environment you were playing in. Bubble Man’s music itself is arguably in my top 10 of all time video game musics, and coming from a guy with a let’s play channel, that’s high praise.
I’m not exactly sure why I began with Mega Man 2. Maybe because it’s a fan favorite or maybe it’s because it was the one I had the most experience with and love for growing up. I think I was really trying to honor my childhood early on with the channel here. This is one of my favorite games of all time as I remember the Christmas of the year it came out my older brother and I asked for half a dozen games, this being one of them, and for some reason our spoiled selves got them all that year. Yes, as Christmas’s go, arguably the best ever. Being able to identify all of the NES box shaped presents never got old.
Anyway, we got one of the many slightly skewed copies which labeled him as “Crash” man rather than “Clash” man. Or was it always meant to be Crash Man? I forget, maybe someone should clue me in.
This is maybe the hardest of all of the Mega Mans as some of those Wiley stages at the end were brutal. It’s also maybe the darkest overall, which considering this is Mega Man still isn’t THAT dark, but the whole blood pools from those Wiley has killed dripping from the ceiling near the end and Wiley as an undead alien type creature… yeah it’s probably just how I am remembering it more than anything, nevermind.
